This past weekend I turned 30!! šŸŽ‚šŸŒŒā™‹šŸŒ› I couldn't be more excited for a new decade!
.
In my 20's, the outside world's perceptions of me were ver important. How did I look to the world? Was I "accomplished" or a "failure?" Was I fitting into specific timeframes for having a "professional" style job or accomplishing goals that society deemed I should have? I looked outward for my sense of self confidence and worth.
.
My 30's are going to be much different! My self worth will emanate from within, focusing on myself instead of the outside world. My goals now center around my personal aspirations, replacing society's goals. I will continue to grow within and outward, being comfortable in my own skin.
.
I'm ready to shake things up and make my dreams come true. I am truly flawed, quirky, beautiful, and magical and that's who I am. And that's alright by me!!

Baked salmon and green beans are two of my favorite summer foods! So easy and so yummy. I just bake them in a foil "pocket" with garlic, salt, pepper, onions, olive oil, lemons, and a small bit of butter (because why not!)

I've been really into kale salads with grapes and green onions this week. I make up a big bowl and use it all through the week.

As far as reads go, my mom and I were reminiscing about my first Nora Roberts book. The summer after the final Harry Potter was released I was devastated and clueless on what to read next. My mom has always read Roberts, ALWAYS in my memories. She handed me one from way back in her closet and Roberts became my summer guilty read!!

I've still got that first Nora Robert's book on my shelf, I come back to it and read it every few summers.

We always laugh, because I'm 2 years older. The first summer we hung out I turned 21 and he was 19. We were such kids.

Our birthdays are 4 days apart and we are both Cancers. ā™‹ We've always evened each other out. I'm the semi-emotional, headstrong, homemaker Cancer that defends who and what I love until the end. He's the quiet, unshakable, level headed Cancer, whose love runs deeper than that I've ever known.

We make a great team, we've had ups and downs, but that builds the foundation stronger. We are better for it.

This past week has been CRAZY!! I finished my Professional Photography Course through @n_y_i_p!! Yes! Yippie! Woohoo!!! Today I'm editing senior sessions and a maternity shoot!
.
As soon as I hit "submit" on my last photo project and applied for my official certificate, it became real! I felt accomplished, relieved, a sense of enormous pride in myself, as well as a twinge of sadness that it was over.
.
Every choice and chance in life is a stepping stone. I'm so incredibly proud to say I'm onto the next leg of my journey! šŸ“·šŸ“ƒšŸž

Where are you in your journey?
  • Nothing says summer, like homemade pulled pork sandwiches šŸ˜ā¤

My big secret (shh!) šŸ™Š is in what I soak my pork in the night before! Are you ready? ROOT BEER!! I can't even remember where I heard it but I've been doing it for years.
.
No joke! Take glass container or plastic bag and put your pork inside, cover the pork with root beer and let it soak all night long.
.
Cook your pork and most of the "juice" in the crockpot, low heat almost all day. I throw in 3-4 cloves of fresh minced garlic and half of a minced sweet onion. When it's done, shred the pork with 2 forks and use whatever your favorite bbq sauce. šŸ˜‹šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³
.
I add a slice of provolone cheese, mayonnaise, as well as a few bread and butter pickles to the bun. So good! (Don't knock it until you've tried it!)
.
